Binodini Devi, Indubala, and Sumati Devi

Female Radio artistes don't get the attention they deserve. There are many fine songs but many of them are forgotten. E.g., Narama sakalara https://t.co/tLkT3wHD8X

She was an established singer of her time, I think, and outsider. So, doesn't fit in.
What about the singers of Sita Bibaha?

True. Can we have a fresh thread on lesser known Odia record singers, lyricists n music directors (all genre.incl AIR) say from 1936-86. The artist sud not have been involved in more 2-3 projects @OdiaMovieDB

Yrs, true ..so.let's start the thread.. Kamala Devi/Jharia/Singha (born Bengali but was the court singer at Jharia Palace). My fav song is Jibane jahaku tume https://t.co/WIMovwyYvG https://t.co/qVpTrfN88b
If we stick to only Odia born female singers, I'm.afraid those will be in single digits only. Let's go for a broader option n share both male n female singers/artists whose songs have been released on records (1-3 only) or broadcasted on AIR
Plz post one by one the singers with little info too n of course link of their  best song created
Interesting story on Kamaklla Devi..

Female Odia Singers were few until 40s... the first Odia Female Artiste is credited to Mala Debi...one of repute going by the number of recordings goes to Binodini Devi...from Ganjam…..others are there as Sanjukta Mohanty, Radhamani Biswakarma and few others...

The other well known singer was Indubala who is credited with hundreds of songs in different languages . This is her Odia one....Kuhuka Kalaki Mote....https://t.co/jd6NkLx1yZ https://t.co/uCUSc26lae
The story of Indubala is quite interesting.... is there in the net...

Chandraprabha who sang in the movie... had few individual recordings... after it on Senola....
Sumati Devi did some recordings for HMV.... mostly Kirtan.... with advent of own label of Kavichandra in 50s... Suralekha...the first record of the label was by Sumati Devi... she sang quite a number under the label....

Sumati Devi, the protege of Kavichandra and mother of noted director Raju Mishra sang a number of songs in the 40s-50s, most composed and written by Kavichandra.
She sang in Lalita, the 2nd Odia movie, top
