From today's morning session : Malli Mala Syamaku Debi (ମଲ୍ଲୀମାଳ ଶ୍ୟାମକୁ ଦେବି), Bhanja's iconic Odissi lyric in a lesser-known tune in Todi (ତୋଡ଼ି). Learned this from Guru Rankanidhi Gouda of Bharata Lila. Listen here :

Both Bhairabi (ଭୈରବୀ) and Todi (ତୋଡ଼ି) names are now used interchangeably in Odissi and it seems like the ancient versions have converged into one rāga. Both have the same scale but some typical movements in this song cause me to lean towards calling it Todi.
Even in the past, they had probably the same scale but different nyāsa swaras. They usually employ both variants of rishabha and very rarely the tivra madhyama. My movements, as far as I can trace, derive significantly from old gramophone recordings and traditional artforms.
In the Odissi tradition, the oldest mention of Bhairabi is in the Gita Gobinda (~1147) where Jayadeba indicates it for an ashtapadi. The oldest mention of Todi is in the Abhinada Gita Gobinda (1466-1497) of Kabichandra Raya Dibakara Misra, written for Gajapati Purusottama Deba.
