To pay homage Queen Victoria of England after her demise in 1901, Rao started a school and named it 'Town Victoria High English School', Odisha's first co-ed school. It has now been renamed as Bhakta Madhu Vidyapeetha.

Though Madhu Barnabodha is Rao's most famous creations, very few know about the handbook for teachers named ’Abadhana Bandhu’(Teacher’s friend) that he wrote in 1883. The book was first of its kind in Odisha to acquaint teachers with the techniques of effective teaching.

In 1901 undivided Bengal comprised territories of Orissa and Bihar. That is why Hindus were more than Muslims. If only Bengal speaking region is concerned then my estimate is the Muslims outnumbered Hindus after the 1840s. Before, the 1840s, Hindus >Muslims in Bengal.

Odissi Chaupadi written and composed by the venerable Acharya Tarini Charan Patra (1901-79) of Ganjam, who apart from being an excellent vocalist, binākāra & musicologist, was also a poet of the highest order. Debagāndhāri Ekatāli. 1/2 #OdissiMusic https://t.co/B7E0tPB4f1

Thank you so much. 🙏😊
Indeed, a Mardala adds so much, and Batagopal incorporates so many authentic patterns within it from his experience in the temple.
A Janāna to Jagannatha (in Khambāja - Rūpaka) written and rendered by Astābadhāni Ācharya Tarini Charana Patra (1901-79) of Ganjam. He was a poet, vocalist, composer, researcher, vainika par excellence— one of the greatest Odissi musicians of the 20th century.
Everyone in southern Odisha knows his name even now. People from all over Odisha (until those born around 60s) with even a basic association with Odissi music know him. For those born after 60s, his name has been systematically erased so they have no clue.
He is iconic in Ganjam. Everyone knows him, and his Gandhiji Sangita Mandira. I guess Ramachandra Mardaraja's support and proclamation would have greatly spread his fame.
Yes. Nabaghana Parida learned Odissi from Tarini Patra for a few years after which he went on to become a professional Bharata Lila & Danda Nacha artist, receiving national fame for his art. When I made him listen to Tarini Patra's voice (odiamelody's video) he almost cried.

Ehi Para Jaga Baliya... sung by the venerable Tarini Ch Patra... on 78 RPM Shellac...on Senola label... released in mid 50s... the vintage record of around six decades old.. though is not in great shape... https://t.co/wKGe79yDPS
