In Ireland Irish gaeilic was the language of the majority in 1700-1800s now it's replaced by English. There was no direct imposition of English nor Irish Gaelic was banned. It jus from business to govt to higher education all were in English. Odia condition would also b like that, people will identify themselves with Odia but with no knowledge of the language. This may not happen immediately but difference would be known in another 50 years. Odia will survive though in libraries or museum

It’s because Odias don’t feel proud to talk in Odia when talking to other Odias. The kids in my lane in Old Town talk in Hindi. That’s fashionable today. Shopkeepers in malls in Bhubaneswar start with Hindi. Uncles you continue to respond in Odia, they keep talking in Hindi. 1/2 I went to a bookstore in Bapuji Nagar few days back. The section for Odia books was smaller than that of Hindi books. While economics is the reason for keeping small collections, it is the current generation of Odias responsible demise of Odia. What such low self-esteem?

During our childhood days the train in Paralakhemundi was running and at that time it was a source of joy, amusement and pride. Displaying the original train at Paralakhemundi is important as it is a part of our shared culture and a matter of pride.
